know you came for a type of cinder
burnt we speak desire, do it not with your hands
on me/ I can’t hold two thoughts at once like fictions
Lacan posits between people & also firing
my body rises, pressure of your hand
guiding my hip towards you, pulled oar
to steer so an island where I prisoner
sound loosened when your mouth releases me
what I want to say is a list of reasons to keep me
safe/ moored in silence, your thumb brushes
across the surface of my bottom lip where words
accrue, not falling but I hold language a perfect
line of temper in placid waters & wonder unfamiliar
men bargain for ways inside just to plenty & there
a dipping that pulls torrents: I’m tired of writing
love fails. falters. how many risks to poem.
a word rises, lust cages. a city
of drowning undoes us. under cement, a topography of neglect.
the way I forget my body has a name
the way I forget to guard borders. you put shiny trinkets
along the top of the fishbowl of loneliness & a lure
bitens, the water changes/ water’s shape palming you doesn’t
& so I river and catch call this basin between
I want you to want me & I want you
one of these things I know for sure
you draw me with one finger, by and by, coast
what you wish to rupture, land slips to part sea
& out of once upon a time comes everything we imagine moving forward
